SEPTEMBER 2026

SUICIDE PREVENTION & AWARENESS SAFETY STAND DOWN

Each September, in recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, we call on all California fire departments to participate in a Behavioral Health Suicide Prevention and Awareness Safety Stand Down. During this month, we ask you to set aside time to conduct exercises
and initiate conversations about mental wellness. The first step to saving a life is starting the conversation.

There are people who can help -- your peers and others who understand. Find the help you need.

“It's okay to struggle, it's okay to open up, and it's okay to ask for help because
